🎾 Padel Tournament Formats Guide
← Back to Tournament SelectorSingle Americano
A very fun and social format, where each player pairs with every other player exactly once.
Players earn points and are ranked individually. Matches can be played either by points or games and can be timed or not. Fun format for any number of players.
All rounds are generated upfront, however there is no need to finish all the rounds. If one or more players need to rest in each round, this is OK, the software will handle this automatically and the leaderboard will be based on the average points earned (i.e. total points divided by the actual number of matches played).
Fixed Team Americano
This is very similar to the Single Americano, but instead of being played individually, you compete in predetermined teams. Every team plays against every other team exactly once. This is ideal for established partnerships.
Mixed Women Men Americano
This is a twist of the Single Americano, where every man player is partnered with every woman player exactly once to form a mixed team. Promotes balanced gender play. Other than that, it is exactly played like the Single Americano.
Kids Single Americano
A Fun and Colorful version of the Single Americano for young players. Apart from the use of colors and animations in the UI, this is a Single Americano format.
Mixed Left-side Right-side Americano
Similar to the men-women Americano, this is played where every left-side player partners with every right-side player exactly once. Great for position-based mixing.
Single Mexicano
Mexicano vs Americano: Unlike Americano (all pairings/matches upfront), Mexicano generates one round at a time.
How it works:
1. Play Round 1 → Enter results → Update leaderboard
2. Generate Round 2 based on current rankings
3. Repeat
Smart Pairing Example: #1 pairs with #3 to play against #2 & #4, #5 pairs with #7 to play against #6 & #8, etc. Also, contrary to the classic Mexicano, we *try* to ensure no two players are paired together in 2 consecutive matches.
As rounds progress, strong players naturally pair/play against other strong players, while beginners stay together. The Mexicano is ideal for mixed-skill groups with wide ability ranges.
Mexicano is essentially a verion of a 'King of the Court' tournament.
Fixed Team Mexicano
This is a Mexicano format, but for fixed teams.
Dynamic Pairing:
- Rounds generated one-by-one based on current team rankings
- Example: Team #1 vs #2, Team #3 vs #4
Perfect for mixed-skill teams. As rounds progress:
Strong teams → face other strong teams
Beginner teams → play other beginners
